A few more thoughts...

A couple of months ago I mentioned to my MIL that I could really use another bookcase for our school books. I was tempted at the time to go curb scavenging, and had almost claiming some industrial sheling that belonged to our neighbors. But rather than settling for ugly cobweb covered plastic shelves that really wouldn't have worked too well, I decided to just wait. You have to understand that my MIL is able to find things that we need...She is constantly finding little things at just the right time for us. I asked her to share our specific need with her sisters, who are always spotting bargains and then sat back and waited. Sure enough, two weeks ago she brought over a book cabinet that she got for FREEEEEEEE! All I had to do was re-glue a piece back on that had fallen off, and buy some knobs.

Then we received another smaller bookcase that was a total bargain that matches both of our bookcases from one of the sisters. We now have more shelf space than books!

AND then I received a new old lamp from my Dad that once belonged to my great-grandmother. He had rescued it out of a trash heap after she died, and had kept it for many years. It needed to be re-wired and it needed a shade, but both of these were cheap easy fixes, and I now have one corner of my house that actually is decorated and cozy looking. Now I just need to have that print framed.....

Sunday, my DH looked at S.J. and remarked that her dress was very short, and wondered aloud if she needed new clothes. Yes, she does...she is growing like a weed! I took this as a challenge to finish a jumper that I had started and then abandoned after she told me that she didn't "like flowers anymore." The fabric was given to me many years ago by our neighbor at the time who ran an upholstery shop from his garage. He knew that I sewed, so I got his scraps.

I used the same pattern that I used for her denim jumper that I made last year. The skirt is pleated so that the little floral strip is hidden within the pleats.

I'm pretty pleased with the results. I figure that if anyone says that they have a sofa covered with the same fabric, I will say, "If Scarlett could wear her curtains, then my daughter can wear your couch."
She decided she is okay with flowers, now. So, she got a dress for FREEEEEEEEE!

I am all about FREEEEEEEEE!!!!!

I've decided that the Moby wrap is wonderful. Yesterday we were expecting my cousin to come over and needed to clean up the house. Joe decided that he would fuss. Into the Moby he went, and I was able to do the dishes, clean the bathroom, pick up the living room, dust, and vacuum while he slept on my back. I was able to finish everything in time to have a shower and fix my hair! WHOOP!

Theoretically, you are not supposed to use a sretchy Moby wrap for a back carry, but my other wrap simply does not work as well. He is very secure as long as he is relaxed and sleeping, but once he gets restless and starts wiggling, I take him out. My convenience is not worth the risk. But this baby is such a mama's boy that he is pretty content as long as he is in physical contact with me. This can be a good or a bad thing.
All of the above to me is evidence that God loves me and takes care of me. Through the past couple of years, really, He has clearly been taking care of all of our physical needs, through other people. Sometimes, when things seem really dire, it is so hard to trust Him. But again and again, He has shown us that we can trust Him completely. I still doubt at times. And I realize that dire to me is not even close to what dire is in Haiti right now. So, I just feel very humble and thankful, for all of it.

Have a great day!

You are so right, Mere! He provides--always. SJ's dress is beyond adorable, BTW. Ah, I wish I could sew...

Amen to God taking care of us and showing us how He cares! I remember one day I was feeling so sorry for myself and wondering if God really cared. My son walked in t he door headed back home from a church college retreat and he had boxes of cereal/leftovers from their weekend. God is so good to give us reminders that He sees our needs and hasn't forgotten us!
